Exceptions include:
- Suspected child abuse or dependent adult or elder abuse; I am required by law to report this to the appropriate authorities immediately.
- If a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person(s) I must notify the police department and inform the intended victim.
- If a client intends to harm himself/herself I will make every effort to gain cooperation in securing safety. If he/she does not cooperate I will take further actions without their permission that are provided to me by law in order to ensure safety.
- If a medical emergency occurs on-site and medical personnel requests limited identifying information related to the incident.
- Therapists are required by law to report incidences of sexual misconduct on the part of other therapists.
- Additionally, therapists and educators at Forester Music Therapy Services may consult with supervisors for the purpose of providing the best possible service.
- We abide by HIPAA practice standards.
